Location
Dharma Pradeepa Monastery is situated in a serene environment within the Veherayaya Grama Niladhari Division, belonging to the Wellawaya Divisional Secretariat of the Monaragala District in the Uva Province of Sri Lanka.

Beginning…
On 29 April 2018, the virtuous Mr. Podisingho and his children, with great faith for the long-lasting stability of the Buddha Sāsana, offered this sanctuary to the Mahā Saṅgha of the Sri Kalyani Yogashrama. Since then, under the leadership of the Most Venerable Ellegama Paññāsīla Thero (Tripiṭakācariya, Master of Arts, Meditation Master), an environment was created for approximately twenty monks and fifty local and foreign lay devotees to practise Vipassanā meditation residentially.
This hermitage functions as an Araññā Senāsana affiliated with the Sri Kalyani Yogashrama Sanstha of the Sri Lanka Rāmañña Mahā Nikāya. From its inception to the present day, religious and Sāsana activities have been conducted under his primary leadership and counsel. Today his pupils, together with about twenty local and foreign monks, reside here engaged in meditation and in many forms of service to the Sāsana.
Meditation Lineage
The pure Vipassanā meditation method, gifted to the world by the Buddha, was followed and taught to his disciples by the Great Arahant Ledi Sayadaw of Burma. This tradition was passed down from him to Sayagyi Thet, then to his student Sayagyi U Ba Khin, and then to his student, the Vipassanā teacher S. N. Goenka, who made this method known throughout the world. Our forest hermitage follows this very method.
